A World First Tool And How It Is Shaping The Way We Look At Cyber Security In New Zealand

Abstract

There is no one universal way that a person interprets information. We all have different ways and filters of looking at problems. If a problem is also technical, then getting people to understand your messaging can be just plain hard!

CERT NZ is a newly established government unit tasked with helping all Kiwis be safer online. This year at the Tertiary ICT Conference the CERT NZ team will take you through the development and implementation of their intuitive online cyber security incident reporting tool. A tool which is a world first. We will look at the challenges of reaching a diverse population of tech and non tech people, and explain how the data we are seeing is being used to shape and educate everything we do.   

Bio

Hayley Power is an experienced security professional who currently works as a Senior Engagement Advisor at CERT NZ. Previously, Hayley owned specialist IT Security company, InPhySec and has international experience having worked in South Africa as a cyber security manager for KPMG. Hayley began her career in cyber security working within NZ Govt investigating cyber attacks against NZ business’s and NZ Govt.
