MOOC’a’geddon – creating VictoriaX
In 2016 the Vice Chancellor of Victoria University instigated a partnership with edX, the global provider of Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs). The partnership included the delivery of 12 courses over three years starting in 2017.
The next step was to find a team to work with academics to design and deliver the courses!
This strategic learning and teaching project was handed to the ITS Learning and Research Technology team. The team had already been involved in developing academic capability to teach online and recently completed the design and creation of Great Ideas, the Faculty of Humanities first cross disciplinary fully online course.
This presentation will overview the development of the VictoriaX programme, highlight the skills and resources required to deliver a MOOC and review the success and horrific hiccups from our first two massive open courses.
