Presentation Title

IT Operations 101 – Driving Efficiencies – Eliminating Commodity

Abstract

Operations 101 is the AUT ICT Operations story, told over an 8 year period of how we have led the transformation into the way we operate and deliver core platform and infrastructure services to AUT.  In times of tight budgets we have been forced to evaluated everything we do and move from working harder, to working smarter.  Streamlining processes; Identifying and driving out commodity activities; working with vendors to bundle or outsource non value-add services to free up ICT staff to deliver real value to the University as opposed to the traditional, legacy focus on commodity.  This is the story of two experienced ICT professionals; leading the charge;  bringing a commercial focus to a University environment and some of the challenges along the way.

As a take away, we provide a “no nonsense / common sense approach” to delivering an operational transformation with real examples and tips that any IT organisation can embrace and implement.  It is not rocket science – just common sense
